Reasons to Bake in April

I missed a lot of good baking occasions in March, like Oreo’s birthday, Peanut Butter Lovers Day, National Potato Chip Day, Waffle Day and other fake holidays.

For April I want to be better prepared, so here are some holidays that might be worth baking for:

April 1st – April Fool’s Day (Make desserts that don’t look like desserts)
April 2nd – National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day
April 3rd – Doris Day’s birthday (Make something pink)
April 7th – Caramel Popcorn Day
April 8th – Easter (Stick some Peeps on your cupcakes and you’re done!)
April 13th – Scrabble Day (Cookie tiles, maybe?)
April 14th – National Pecan Day (Mmm… pie)
April 15th – Leonardo da Vinci’s birthday
April 19th – National Garlic Day (Which could be like a second April Fool’s Day if you do it right)
April 21st – Queen Elizabeth’s birthday (Time for tea and scones)
April 22nd – Vladimir Nabokov’s birthday (If there’s a way to make a Lolita cake, I’ll find it)
April 23rd – National Zucchini Bread Day (I make mine with chocolate and walnuts)
April 23rd – Shakespeare’s birthday (Leftover scones from the Queen’s birthday. The staleness will make them more authentic to Shakespeare’s time.)
April 26th – National Pretzel Day (Serve up a few bags with chocolate and caramel dips)

Are there more reasons to bake in April? Let me know.

April showers,
Lisa
